International Humanitarian Action

2010

International Humanitarian Action (IHA) exists to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.

IHA works amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability to unleash the potential of people to win against near impossible odds.

Since 1971 IHA has provided $2.3 billion in assistance to people in 100 nations. Supported by its headquarters in New York and London, IHA’s global programs employ more than 2,400 staff worldwide.

In reality, IHA is a fictional non-governmental aid agency that embodies many of the characteristics typical of aid and advocacy organizations active in the global community.

When participants “deploy” to the mock crisis in the Republic of Atlantica during the ATLANTIC HOPE or SVETLINA training exercises they are documented and travel as IHA aid workers.
